JD Vance Made CBS Host Speechless Over His Birthright Citizenship Answers

Vice President JD Vance, only one week into the job, is already clashing with the media, and he seems to be fully on board with whatever hardline immigration policies that Donald Trump is implementing right now.

Vance had quite a heated discussion with CBS anchor Margaret Brennan on the topic of allowing more immigrants to come into the U.S. whether vetted or not, and whether birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment should be ended.

Donald Trump’s relationship with immigrants has never been a secret to anyone – it’s always been there on the surface.

As soon as he took office, he signed over 10 immigration orders that were meant to govern the U.S. borders and protect the citizens of the United States from whatever dangers the immigrants might pose.

This concerned not only border security but also mass deportations that he had promised to enforce during his presidential campaign.

Numerous ICE raids have already frightened the various immigrant communities of the U.S. and it seems to be only the beginning of his large anti-immigrant campaign that already has thousands of people arrested (around 6,000 only in the last week of January 2025).

The military has also been busy, deporting undocumented workers via planes or locking them up in Guantanamo.

“We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people,” Trump said, pointing out that some of them are so horrible that even their home countries can’t be trusted with detaining them.

While this may seem like a reasonable thing to do, we can already guess just how many thousands of people would undergo unjust arrests with the government of the U.S. bearing so much hostility towards them.

Of course, criminals aren’t the only ones President Trump is worried about – he went as far as denying citizenship acquired by birth to millions of American-born kids whose parents are illegal immigrants or the ones having temporary visas.

Trump signed executive orders regarding this matter right on his Inauguration Day, potentially traumatizing millions of people all over the country.

A lawsuit was filed almost immediately against the executive orders, which attorneys claim contradicted the 14th Amendment’s guarantee of citizenship to almost all people born on U.S. soil.

While the executive orders are deemed unconstitutional by a great number of critics, we can already see where things are going with such a ‘tough love’ policy Donald Trump has introduced regarding immigrants and their families.

It’s nothing new, but it’s still shocking nonetheless. So, is JD Vance in on this? You bet he is!

JD Vance got into a fierce debate with Margaret Brennan over Trump’s numerous immigration innovations stating that there are too many shady and violent people entering the United States.Although they are deemed vetted, it seems that JD Vance and the Trump administration thinks that the procedure needs to become even stricter in order to sift through the endless flow of immigrants and intercept the criminals who are entering the country with ill intent.

Vance mentioned that there were numerous cases of supposedly ‘properly vetted’ immigrants who later planned terrorist attacks, even during the latest presidential campaign.

Brennan noted that because of the latest Trump executive orders, over 30,000 Afghan refugees scheduled to enter the U.S got their flights canceled and ended up stuck in a type of immigration limbo unable to go to the U.S.

Apparently, things like that don’t concern Vance as much as potential harm-doers entering the country.

The worst thing about this whole case is that both Vance and Brennan have a point and are right, but it all comes down to how strict can the U.S. government be to the people in need and to those who should be guaranteed citizenship by the Constitution.

Margaret Brennan pointed out that the U.S. was, in fact, founded by immigrants – that’s why we all should treat them better.

Yet, JD Vance was steadfast in his intent to put the interests of the U.S. citizens first and foremost.

“Just because we were founded by immigrants, doesn’t mean that 240 years later we have to have the dumbest immigration policy in the world,” he noted, fully supporting whatever immigration policy Trump has in mind.As Brennan swiftly pointed out, even Vance himself said before that all immigrants who’ve been properly vetted should be allowed to enter the country, but the Vice President seemed to not care about his past agenda, and was adamant in his current point of view – all incoming immigration should be suspended until further notice, and thoroughly investigated before they’d be allowed to enter the US soil.

Whatever Brennan said was met with pretty much this reasoning, which boiled down to the words “I don’t care, Margaret,” that have already gone nearly viral just because Vance has used them so often as a counter-argument to whatever the CBS News anchor had to say on the topic. After the interview, lots of netizens on X/Twitter spoke in favor of Trump’s strict immigration policy and supported Vance in his fierce desire to end birthright citizenship and end illegal immigration.

And yet, we’re still left with a foul aftertaste due to the policy effects that millions of people are going to get with this tremendous constitutional change.

Obviously, the issue has more layers than meets the eye and we can only wait for whatever move the Trump office will make next regarding future immigrants and their citizenshipstatus.
