Eric Carmen, lead singer of the band Raspberries, has died at the age of 74.
In a message on his website, the singerβs wife told people about his death.
In a statement, Amy Carmen said, βIt is with great sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of Ericβs death.β
βOver the weekend, our kind, loving, and talented Eric died peacefully in his sleep. For decades, he was happy to know that his music had touched so many people. This will be his lasting legacy.
βPlease give the family privacy while we grieve our terrible loss.β βLove Is Everythingβ¦β βFaithful and Forever,β she said.
Back in the 1970s and 1980s, Carmen was the groupβs star.
Singer remembers Raspberries lead singer
On X, which used to be called Twitter, singer John Eddie paid tribute to Eric Carmen.
The artist wrote, βSad to hear that Eric Carmen has died.β
βOne of my favorite bands was The Raspberries.β If you like rock βnβ roll, Go All The Way is the perfect single. Thatβs why I bought their first album with the scratch and sniff sticker.
βOne of my favorite albums of all time is The Raspberriesβ Greatest Hits.β The album is pretty f*g great, even the songs that arenβt as good.
βI saw the Raspberries live at one of those AM radio fests.β It took place in Philadelphia at the Spectrum. Either WIBG or WFIL it was. It was about 99 cents for the ticket. Slade, The Raspberries, Jim Croce, Lou Reed, and Stevie Wonder were on the bill. it was crazy!
βThere may have been other acts on the bill, but Iβm old and only remember those.β Anyway, itβs a sad day for the child inside me who is now in his late forties. βMay Eric Carmen rest in peace, and thanks for the raspberries,β he said.
Left behind by his wife
Amy Carmen, Ericβs wife, told everyone Monday that he had died.
